Meghan Markle sends message in Lilibet’s birthday bash

Meghan Markle has seemingly included a subtle message in her daughter Princess Lilibet’s birthday celebration this year.

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated her and Prince Harry’s fourth birthday on June 4, taking their kids including Prince Archie to Disneyland for a magical family getaway.

On Instagram, Meghan posted photos and videos of Lilibet’s pastel blue Little Mermaid-themed birthday cake, complete with an Ariel topper.

However, DailyMail noted that Meghan’s choice cake was in reference to her past comments about comparing herself to Ariel, the Disney princess who gave up her voice for love.

One year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal roles, the couple sat for an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

Meghan, who was pregnant with Princess Lilibet at the time, spoke about how she identified with the character.

The Duchess of Sussex said, “I was sitting in Nottingham cottage and The Little Mermaid came on. And who as an adult really watches The Little Mermaid but it came on and I was like, ‘Well I’m here all the time I might as well watch this.'”

“And I went, ‘Oh my God she falls in love with the prince and because of that she loses her voice’ But in the end she gets her voice back,” she added, referring to her alleged treatment within the royal family.

Notably, when Oprah asked her, “You feel like you got your voice back” Meghan replied, “Yeah.”
